New Immigration Law Goes Into Effect July 1, 2013
A new immigration law, SB 160, goes into effect on July 1. Any contractor who contracts with the County for the "physical performance of services" in which the labor or services exceed $2,499.99 must comply with the Federal work authorization program by being required to sign and submit and E-Verify affidavit to the County unless;
(1) the contractor has no employees (in which case it must present and approved state-issued identification card/driver's license,
(2) the contract is with an individual licensed under Title 26, Title 43 or the State Bar of Georgia who is in good standing and is performing that services. Subcontractors are held to the same requirement.
