Fulton Health and Human Services Breaks Ground for Regional Health Center in Southwest Atlanta | Print |

Commissioner Emma I. Darnell, District 5 and Fulton County Health and Human Services will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. to mark the beginning of a major construction project designed to convert the Adamsville Health Center in to the Adamsville Regional Health Center.  The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 3690 Martin Luther King Jr., Drive in southwest Atlanta.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved the funding to construct the new health center to better serve Adamsville and the surrounding community.  The estimated $7.9 million project cost includes the purchase of 4-acres of land located three-tenths of a mile of the present site located at 3699 Bakers Ferry Road.

“We are certain that this new facility will add to the revitalization of the community,” says Patrice A. Harris, MD, Director Fulton County Health Services.  “The construction of this health center will provide accessible, safe, and welcoming health care services offering residents the opportunity to obtain the resources needed for improved health results.”

The construction of the Adamsville Regional Health Center will increase the center’s size to 30,000 square feet (max).  Construction includes space for additional services such as primary care, dental, behavioral health counseling, behavioral health group sessions, library/resource center, workforce development services and housing assistance.  Walking tracks, a Farmer’s Market, and a public plaza with a healthy garden will be added to support encouraging healthy lifestyles.

BDR+SYN·ER·GY will direct project management and construction management services.
