Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires

Every year more than a thousand fires are started nationwide by deep frying. Most of those fires happen  on Thanksgiving Day in most part because of the popularity of deep-fried turkey. Lured by the promise of moist, sweet turkey meat, the deep fryer has become an increasingly popular way to make Thanksgiving dinner.  The Fulton County Fire Rescue Department (FCFRD) reminds residents that cooking a turkey in a vat of boiling oil does come with its dangers.

Turkey must be kept at a safe temperature while it is thawing

Turkeys can be purchased fresh or frozen. ¬† Fulton County Cooperative Extension encourages residents to think ‚Äúsafety‚ÄĚ while preparing for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that each year roughly 1 out of 6 Americans (or 48 million people) get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die of foodborne diseases.

Fulton County Crews Reopen Portion of Academy Street Following Water Main Repairs in Alpharetta | Print |

The Fulton County Department of Water Resources has reopened the portion of Academy Street between State Route 9 / Main Street and Haynes Bridge Road.   The closure was necessary so that crews from Fulton County could repair a waterline that ruptured overnight.
