Fulton County Animal Services Impounds Two Dogs After 10-Year-Old Is Attacked | Print |

Fulton County Animal Services impounded two dogs after attacking a 10-year-old boy in an Atlanta home.  Animal Services received a call from the Fulton County Police Department on December 2, 2014 at 4:53 p.m.  Upon arriving to the home located at 6472 DeKeon Drive, Animal Services quickly impounded two Mastiff dogs and transported them to the County’s animal shelter.

Fulton County Commission Chairman John H. Eaves welcomed the performing arts singing and dance troupe “Africa Umoja” to Fulton County.   He presented the troupe with a proclamation on behalf of the Fulton County Commission and congratulated them for their dedication to the arts as they celebrate “20 Years of Democracy and Freedom”.

Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires

Every year more than a thousand fires are started nationwide by deep frying. Most of those fires happen  on Thanksgiving Day in most part because of the popularity of deep-fried turkey. Lured by the promise of moist, sweet turkey meat, the deep fryer has become an increasingly popular way to make Thanksgiving dinner.  The Fulton County Fire Rescue Department (FCFRD) reminds residents that cooking a turkey in a vat of boiling oil does come with its dangers.

Turkey must be kept at a safe temperature while it is thawing

Turkeys can be purchased fresh or frozen.   Fulton County Cooperative Extension encourages residents to think “safety” while preparing for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that each year roughly 1 out of 6 Americans (or 48 million people) get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die of foodborne diseases.

Veterans enjoyed a breakfast recognition on Monday, November 11, 2014 at Fulton County’s Helene S. Mills Senior Multipurpose Facility.   Veterans looked on as they were recognized by community advocate Helene S. Mills for whom the Mills facility is named.

Winter weather has arrived and as temperatures drop, the Fulton County Fire Rescue Department encourages residents to use caution when using fireplaces and space heaters to heat their homes to stay warm. According to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), about 3,400 Americans die each year in fires and about 17,500 are injured. Learn how to stop a fire before it starts.
