Chronic Disease Prevention

We provide health education to youth, adults, and seniors, on health-promoting behaviors and resources available to support healthy lifestyles. Below is a list of the presentations we offer in communities:

  • Nutrition Education
  • Physical Activity or Active Living
  • Quit Smoking
  • Healthy Living (topics focusing on specific national health observances month)
  • How to Prevent Type 2 Diabetes
  • Take Control! How to Manage your Type 2 Diabetes Symptoms

Your organization can implement small changes that can have lasting effects on chronic disease prevention. The Chronic Disease Prevention program is available for collaboration and ongoing technical assistance to support partners in meeting their chronic disease prevention goals. Invite us to your next collaborative meeting or get in touch with us to connect on strategic approaches to help improve the lives of Fulton County residents.

Please, submit the request form 60-days in advance of your event. Requests are handled on a first-come, first-served basis and will be evaluated to determine our participation. Our office will contact you as soon as a determination is made. If the Fulton County Board of Health does not offer the services and/or is not able to provide the requested services, we may offer health literature. For more information, please contact Ruben Brambila at talk desk 404-613-4238.

Upcoming Opportunities

If you want to learn more about these upcoming opportunities contact us for more information.

· Wellness @ Work: Did you know that healthy employees are often more productive employees? Wellness @ Work is a pilot initiative aimed at encouraging small businesses to incorporate wellness strategies within their place of employment. Small business owners will be provided with on-site technical assistance, curricula, and a resource box with free physical activity, healthy eating, and stress management resources for their employees to use.

· Smoke-free Multi-unit Housing: Are you looking to make your site smoke-free? Using the BreatheEasy Georgia Homes approach, we educate multi-unit housing property managers, property owners, management companies, and residents on the dangers of secondhand smoke exposure and the need for smoke-free policies to reduce exposure to secondhand smoke. BreatheEasy Georgia Homes provides properties with resources such as sample policies and policy enforcement tools to eliminate secondhand smoke exposure in multi-unit homes.

Health Fairs/Community Events for Promoting Chronic Disease Prevention Resources

Through participation in health fairs and other community events, we have provided hundreds of educational resources and have linked individuals to community support services.
