Fulton County Earns Award of Excellence in Procurement for the 17th Year | Print |

 

What criteria earns a public or nonprofit organization an Achievement Award of Excellence in Procurement (AEP)?   The National Procurement Institute (NPI) awards the honor annually to those organizations that demonstrate “Innovation, Professionalism, E-Procurement, Productivity and Leadership in procurement practices.” Apparently, the Fulton County Department of Purchasing & Contract Compliance consistently exceeds those expectations. For the 17th consecutive year, the Fulton County Purchasing Department has earned the Achievement Award of Excellence.

According to NPI, for 2015, Fulton County was one of 207 agencies nationwide that successfully applied for the award.   They included counties, cities, higher education organizations, school districts, special districts, and state agencies. The winning organizations will receive their awards during NPI's 48th Annual Conference and Products Exposition, October 9-12, 2016 in Colorado Springs, CO.   The recognition represents the 21st Annual AEP Awards ceremony.

Fulton County Manager Dick Anderson congratulated Purchasing Director Felicia Strong-Whittaker for the 17-year “record of accomplishment.”   “Our Purchasing Department represents an outstanding example of our Strategic Plan principle that “All People Trust that Government is Efficient, Effective and Fiscally Sound,” said Anderson.   “Our purchasing team members are leading examples of a competent and engaged workforce that promotes efficient and effective practices.”

The National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI) is the Public Sector Affiliate of the Institute for Supply Management formerly known as the National Association of Purchasing Management.   NPI emphasizes that the organization promotes “the achievement of excellence in governmental and institutional procurement through education, certification, professional development and networking of its membership.”

Founded in 1968, the National Procurement Institute, Inc. is “designed to establish cooperative relationships among its members and to develop efficient purchasing methods and practices in the areas of governmental, educational, and institutional procurement.”
