Fulton County District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. will help the Fulton County community kick off the 2018-2019 school year with his fourth annual “It Takes a Village” back-to-school event. This year’s event is scheduled for two locations over a two week period. The first of these will be at Villages at Carver YMCA; 1600 Pryor Road SW; Atlanta, GA 30315 on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to be followed by another event at Wolf Creek Library; 3100 Enon Rd SW; Atlanta, GA 30349 also from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday September 7, 2018.
“Once again, I am overjoyed to help our students get off to the best start that they can," says District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. “We hope to reach families in District 5 communities to provide them supplies and resources they need to assist their children in school."
School supplies will be provided to approximately one thousand (1,000) students in attendance on a first-come-first-served basis. Sponsors will award ten (10) $500 book scholarships to this year’s essay winners to help them further their studies in college.
