|
Fulton County Juvenile Court Chief Judge Belinda E. Edwards (left) celebrates the opening of the Juvenile Justice Fund’s new Permanency Center. The Center provides a “homelike” environment for children as they visit the court for hearings, family counseling or other services.

The Center’s primary goal is to keep families that were once separated by drug abuse together by providing transition and aftercare services for parents in recovery. The facility is located on the first floor of the Romae T. Powell Juvenile Justice Center on Pryor Street in Atlanta.
The cost of construction was covered through a $100,000 grant from the Humana Foundation’s 2007 Atlanta Benefits program, and a $20,000 Community Builders Award from the Home Depot Foundation.
Joining Judge Edwards are former drug abuser and Peer Counselor Wanda Scott (second from left), Sandra Harris, director of Account Management for Humana’s Georgia commercial operations and Juvenile Justice Fund Executive Director Kim Borna.
