Kids' Zone Activities

With schools closing over the COVID-19, parents are looking for different ways to entertain the kids while at home.

Here are a few Georgia attractions that are helping parents out, even if you can not visit them in person.

Fulton County Library System – With all Fulton County libraries temporarily closed they are hosting special streaming storytime programs every day at 11 a.m. on the library’s Facebook page. In addition, there are thousands of titles that can be checked out and read via the system's digital library. Log on and create a digital watch party.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History – The museum is providing “virtual destinations" while the museum is closed. They are providing educational and entertaining content for those to enjoy from home, including educational videos, fun facts, behind-the-scenes photos, quizzes and more.

Georgia Aquarium - The aquarium has web cameras with several different views of aquatic life from its exhibits, including beluga whales, otters, sea lions, penguins and Ocean Voyager tank.

Center for Puppetry Arts – The center is offering workshops and virtual museum tours along with the puppet shows it puts on every day for children in Atlanta. A schedule of events is posted on the center’s website.

In the City Camp – This camp is offering a virtual camp activity calendar.

Captain Mike’s Dolphin Tours – One of the most popular dolphin tour companies on Tybee Island will stream their tours at 2 p.m. on Facebook Live every day.

The Children’s Museum of Atlanta – Here is another museum that is posting daily at-home activities for kids to do. Check their Facebook page daily for updates as well.

North Georgia Zoo – The zoo will be open by reservation only to groups of 10 or less people. In the meantime, the zoo began hosting Wildlife Wonders at 1 p.m. Mondays-Fridays via Facebook LIVE. Educational program presenters offer an up-close look at some of the zoo’s most interesting animals, and followers can learn all about them - where they live, what they eat, funny behaviors and more.

The High Museum of Art – The High is offering a ton of free resources to teachers or parents at home with kids for things to do at home.

PJ Library Atlanta
– This library is offering virtual storytime and activities Tuesday through Thursday.
