Wedding Ceremony Information

Free and public courtroom wedding ceremonies will resume monthly in June 2023. Private ceremony appointments can be reserved here.

For information on who may perform ceremonies, please review O.C.G.A. §19-3-30(c).

Probate Court has provided an open and public list of wedding ceremony officiants as a resource and convenience. Probate Court does not endorse any officiant.

Fulton County officiants can contact Probate Court to be added to our Officiant Resource List at Chloe.Scott@FultonCountyGa.gov.

Obtaining a Marriage License in Fulton County

Congratulations! Any Georgia resident may apply for a license in any county in Georgia. However, if neither applicant is a resident of Georgia, you may only obtain your license in the county where the ceremony is performed. The license does not have an expiration date.

Both parties must be present with your current identification in order to obtain a marriage license. You must have proof of age by presenting one of the following:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Original or certified copy of birth certificate
  • Valid passport
  • Valid military ID

Applicants under 18 Years of Age

As of July 1, 2019: You must be at least 17 years of age to obtain a marriage license in Georgia. If you are 17 years of age when applying for a marriage license, you must show that you have been emancipated for not less than 15 days and present a certificate of completion of separate specialized premarital counseling for each applicant, even if one applicant is over 18.

If either party has been divorced within the past 90 days, please be prepared to present a copy of the final divorce decree.

Pre-marital blood test results are no longer required in the State of Georgia.

Please note before arriving...

  • Applicants will need to complete a Marriage License Application 
  • Applicants will only be admitted to the office based on their time of arrival and place in line
  • No one will be allowed in the office except for applicants. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • The marriage license fee is:
    • $68.50, includes one mailed certified copy of marriage certificate
    • $28.50 when you provide to the court a Certificate of completion for a Qualified Premarital Education Program, includes one mailed certified copy of the marriage certificate

Please refer to Marriage License Fees. All fees are non-refundable. Annex locations have converted to cashless for license fees. Cash will only be accepted at the downtown/central locations. Credit, debit, and prepared cards are accepted at all locations.

Obtaining Certified Copies of Your Marriage Certificate or Marriage Application

To receive a certified copy of a Marriage Certificate issued in Fulton County via mail.

You may mail a written request to:

Your correspondence should include the Marriage Certificate Request Form. A self-addressed stamped envelope, and a Money Order payable to Fulton County Probate Court, the fee is $10 per copy requested. All fees are non-refundable.
