Confirm Eligibility

To register to vote in the State of Georgia, you must be:

  • United States citizen
  • Resident of Georgia
  • At least 17½ to register (must be 18 to vote)
  • Not currently serving a sentence for a felony of moral turpitude
  • Not legally declared mentally incompetent

Register To Vote

To register online, you may visit the Georgia Secretary of State’s Online Voter Registration site. You must have a valid Georgia driver’s license or a Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS)–issued ID.

If you do not have one, you may print the application from the site and mail it or deliver to your Georgia county residence office. If you reside in Fulton County, you may visit one of our offices noted below to register to vote.

Once you register to vote, you should receive a precinct card via postal mail within 3 to 4 weeks. You are not required to bring your precinct card to cast your ballot, but you must have acceptable photo ID.

Acceptable forms of identification include:

  • A valid Georgia driver’s license, in physical format, issued by the Department of Driver Services (DDS), even if expired.
  • A Georgia DDS interim (temporary) license.
  • A Georgia State-issued ID card, including:
  • Student ID card from a Georgia public college or university (Note: Private institution IDs are not accepted)
  • MARTA transit ID card.
  • A valid U.S. passport.
  • A valid Military ID card.
  • A valid Tribal ID card.
  • Georgia Weapons Carry License.
  • A valid Employee ID card issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the US Government, Georgia, a Georgia County, Municipality, Board, Authority, or other Entity of Georgia.
  • A valid Fulton County Georgia Voter ID Card (VIC). To receive a free Georgia Voter ID please visit our webpage.

How do I register to vote? Where do i go to register to vote?

The Voter Registration Division has four locations to register to vote in person:

After I have registered to vote how long will it take to receive my voter precinct card?

A Voter Precinct card will be mailed to you from Fulton County 3 – 4 weeks after you register.

Do you know where I can find a voter registration application? 

You can complete or download a Voter Registration Application at the Georgia Secretary of State Online Voter Registration Webpage. You may also visit one of our election offices to receive an application.

How do I obtain a Precinct Card?

You will only receive a precinct card when you register to vote for the first time, change your name or address. Please visit https://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do to print a copy of your precinct card.

 

I am a college student. Can I register to vote with my school address?

I updated my voter registration with my new address, but it is not reflected in the system What do I do?

Please contact the Voter Registration Office at 404-612-3816 for help to verify your address change.

If I do not have a Georgia Driver License or ID, How do i obtain a voter ID card and where?

If I go to the polls and I am told that I am not registered to vote what should I do?

Before heading to the poll, you should check your voter registration status GA My Voter Page or call the Voter Registration Office at 404-612-3816 to verify your status. If you are at the poll, ask for a provisional ballot, which will allow us time to review your voter information in an effort to cast your ballot.
