Appealing Your Assessment
Appealing Your Assessment
Each year the Fulton County Board of Assessors issues notices of assessment to every property in Fulton County, pursuant to state law. The notice includes an assessment of each property's fair market value.
If a property owner does not believe their assessment represents the fair market value for their property, they have the right to file an appeal within 45 days of the date of the Notice of Assessment. Read more below for additional information about the appeals process.

Assessing Your Home
You will ONLY be able to appeal the assessed value of your home, not your property’s estimated tax.
Filing Before The Deadline
You must file your appeal before the appeal deadline date printed on your notice. If you do not file an appeal by this date, your right to file an appeal will be lost.
Ways to file
There are three ways in which you can file an appeal. You can file your appeal online at http://www.fultonassessor.org/ in person at any of the five Fulton County Tax Assessor locations listed below, or by mail.
When Filing For Your Appeal
When filing your appeal you must choose one of the three options for appeal:- You may have a hearing before the Board of Equalization.
- You can participate in a non-binding arbitration on the basis of your valuation only.*
- You may have your appeal heard in front of a Hearing Officer.* (*fees and additional costs may apply).
Awaiting Appeal
The appeals process can take several months. In the meantime, you may receive a temporary tax bill while your appeal is pending. You must pay that temporary bill or risk receiving additional penalties and fees.Appealing Your Assessment
