Senior Virtual Classes

Residents 55 years-old and older can participate in free online classes offered Monday through Friday at various hours. Most classes are about 30 minutes and cover topics including fitness, art, life enrichment, nutrition and computers. 

Participants are encouraged to review the schedule below and then email seniorservices@fultoncountyga.gov and use the subject line ‘Senior Virtual Programming for more information on how to join the classes via Zoom. 

The Senior Virtual Classes will also be recorded and placed on the Senior Services YouTube Channel. Links to each playlist are below.

Monday

Art
11 a.m.
“Inspirations for Art” - This class will cover a little art history and why people have made art since the beginning of civilization as well as the role it plays today as we find ourselves isolated due to COVID 19. Ideas will be offered on how to explore the creative side of ourselves and find ways to be creative in our daily lives.work to inspire us.

2 p.m.
“Art Share” - Open online forum for participants to share their Art and have social contact with other like minded creative people.

3 p.m.
“Landscape Painting” - Participants will learn simple and time honored techniques to building landscape paintings

Computer
10 a.m.
“Basic Computer Course” - Participants will learn the basic outlay a computer, how to access and browse the web etc.

Fitness
10 a.m.
“Fitness A Daily Dose - Stretch -N- Tone” - A brief introduction, followed by a nutrition tip of the day, chair exercise joke of the day "laughter is the best medicine followed by a motivational quote. Buffy will work with our sister facilities to incorporate the shout-outs

"A Daily Dose of Fitness" - The class will provide a brief introduction, followed by a nutrition tip of the day, chair exercise joke of the day "laughter is the best medicine, followed by a motivational quote.

“ Yoga- Wise Moves with Ageless Yoga” – Yoga Instruction

“Line Dance (Beg)” – Beginning Line Dance

10 a.m
“Sound Vibration and Relaxation” - This class is for line dancers with a solid knowledge of dance terminology and have mastered the basic steps and can execute some complex steps and patterns

2 p.m.
“ Sound Vibration and Relaxation” - Participants will engage in vibration and relaxation therapy with the aide of a Sound Bowl.

2 p.m.
“Intermediate Spanish” - Students will learn the difference between definite and indefinite articles as well as subject pronouns.

4 p.m.
“Beginning Spanish” Learn the alphabets, numbers and common key phrases.

“Cooking Demo” - Participants will learn how to prepare healthier meals

“Cooking & Learning With Care – Cooking Demo” - Cooking Demonstrations with a theme. Recipe included.

“Making Something Out of Nothing” - Arts and crafts class using items found at home

10:30 a.m.

“Art Appreciation” - Painting, learning how to blend colors & construct a painting

12 p.m.

“Still Life painting” - Participants will learn concepts of color, lights and shadows while creating paintings of objects

Fitness

10 a.m.

“Burn & Tone” - Low Impact Aerobics

11 a.m.

“Fitness A Daily Dose - Beginning Aerobics” - A brief introduction, followed by a nutrition tip of the day, beginning areobics class, joke of the day "laughter is the best medicine followed by a motivational quote. Buffy will work with our sister facilities to incorporate the shout-outs

“Body Tapping/Stretch” - Participants will engage in full body tapping from head to toe to rejuvenate the nervous system followed by full body stretching exercises

“Strength Training” - Strength training involves exercises that are designed to improve strength and endurance. It is often associated with the use of weights but can be done in different  forms. Developed for Adult Day Program level of care, however, this activity can benefit all

“Meal Prep/Planning-Making Wiser Choices” - Participants will learn the essentials of planning menus, prepping for meals and utilizing leftovers.

“Better Choice Better U” – Nutrition Class
