Simone N. Hylton is a Deputy District Attorney with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office under the leadership of District Attorney Fani T. Willis. Ms. Hylton heads the Brenda Baham Domestic Violence Unit. This unit is responsible for the prosecution of intimate partner cases to include battery, aggravated assaults, and homicides. Prior to her position in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, she served as a Senior Assistant District Attorney’s Office in the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office in the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit and the Sexual Exploitation and Crimes Against Children Unit.
Ms. Hylton has handled cases ranging from drug offenses to homicide cases. Ms. Hylton started her prosecution career in 2010 at the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. While at the Fulton County District Attorney’s office, Ms. Hylton received several awards to include the Major Case Rookie of the Year award, the Trial Unit Attorney of the Year award, and was selected as a Rising Star in the Fulton County District Attorney’s office in 2012.
Originally born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Ms. Hylton made Georgia her home after graduating from law school. Ms. Hylton received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Legal Communications from Howard University in 2004. She received her Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2008. Currently, Ms. Hylton serves as the Southeast Regional Director of National Black Prosecutors Association; Past President of the Greater Atlanta Black Prosecutor Association; Vice President of Programs for the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys; and Secretary of the DeKalb Lawyers Association. Ms. Hylton is an Adjunct Professor at Emory University School of Law where she teaches a trial techniques course. Ms. Hylton is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and serves her sorority through the Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter. Ms. Hylton is a member of Cascade United Methodist Church in Southwest Atlanta, Georgia.
