Sekou Kamau

Sekou L. Kamau is from The Bronx, New York. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Police Science from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

In 2025, Sekou joined the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in the Pre-Trial Division, leading the new Juvenile Diversion Program. He brings more than two decades of experience in security and law enforcement across both the public and private sectors, including roles with the New Rochelle Police Department, JetBlue Airways, Manheim Atlanta, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and the DeKalb County Superior Court.

A seasoned corporate leader, Sekou has managed large teams and overseen access control, CCTV operations, physical security enforcement, incident emergency management, and security consulting. He has conducted numerous public and private internal/external investigations. His extensive law enforcement background includes serving as a decorated, deputized Task Force Officer with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in the New York Westchester Office (D-42) and as a veteran Homicide Major Case First-Grade Detective with the New Rochelle Police Department in New York.

Sekou has received numerous awards and recognitions for his work on complex investigations, including cases involving money laundering, bank robberies, sex crimes, and homicides. He has saved lives, initiated undercover operations, and played a critical role in two Title III wiretap investigations that dismantled multimillion-dollar drug organizations. He is also a licensed New York private investigator, an NRA-certified Basic Pistol Instructor, and a Georgia Fulton County Notary Public.

Sekou has undergone extensive training, including FBI hostage negotiation and basic crime scene analysis, as well as specialized courses such as the NYPD Homicide Investigator’s Course and DEA International Money Laundering training. Among his most notable achievements are receiving a Gold Record from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for investigative contributions and assisting in the apprehension of an FBI Most Wanted Mexican Cartel hitman. He was also honored with the Investigator of the Year Award.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sekou is dedicated to community service. He is an active member of the Prince Hall Affiliation Masons, St. James Lodge #4, Nabbar Temple #128, the United Supreme Council SJ 33˚, and several other civic and charitable organizations.
