RuShondra Davenport

With more than 16 years of litigation experience, RuShondra Davenport is committed to serving the citizens of Fulton County. She has handled complex and high-profile cases, and most of her career has been in public service. She graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School after obtaining her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in political science from the University of Detroit Mercy. She is a member of the bar in Georgia and Michigan, and she is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court of Eastern Michigan.

RuShondra is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Junior League, and the Client Protection Fund committee for the State Bar of Michigan. She has received numerous awards, including the 2021 National Bar Association-WLD Outstanding Public Service Award; 2021 Rising Star Award-Fulton County District Attorney; Distinguished Performance Award by a Fortune 500 Company; Top 40 Under 40 lawyer for two consecutive years by The National Black Lawyers, and named as a 2015 Michigan Top Lawyer.

Before joining District Attorney Fani Willis’ administration, RuShondra worked in the corporate sector, where she concentrated primarily on automotive negligence defense, premise liability, and general negligence. While in the corporate arena, she never abandoned her desire for public service as she continued to help the community through service projects, organizations, and volunteering.

She previously worked as a public defender and a staff attorney at the Legal Aid and Defender Association, an assistant prosecuting attorney in Wayne County, Michigan, a senior attorney at two law firms, and an in-house insurance defense attorney for AAA and Allstate insurance companies. Before being promoted to Deputy of Complex, RuShondra was Chief Senior ADA in the Gang Unit.
