Fulton County Recognizes National Public Works Week

May 12, 2025
Public Works professionals will be recognized and celebrated May 18 – 24, 2025.
National Public Works Week is May 18 – 24 and Fulton County is preparing to celebrate. The Fulton County Board of Commissioners will mark the occasion with a presentation of a proclamation to the Department of Public Works during its meeting on Wednesday, May 21.

Following presentation of the proclamation, Public Works will host an exhibit in the Atrium of the Government Center to spotlight the department’s success. The Public Works team will be on-site from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to answer questions and provide information.

The 2025 theme “People, Purpose, Presence,” highlights three cornerstone ideals that motivate public works professionals to serve in their communities every day. Meeting the needs of people is what gives public works its sense of purpose.

“The dedicated public works professionals who come to work each day in Fulton County make our communities and neighborhoods dynamic places to live,” said Director of Public Works, David Clark. “They provide an excellent quality of life by maintaining sanitary sewer and water distribution systems; maintaining roads and traffic signals in the unincorporated areas; providing water and pollution prevention education.”

In recognition of Public Works Week, residents are also invited to get an in-depth look at the process used to treat our drinking water and wastewater. Public Works is hosting tours at the following treatment facilities on Monday, May 19:

10 a.m. - Camp Creek Water Reclamation Facility - 7520 Cochran Road, Atlanta, GA 30349

10 a.m. - Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility - 1030 Marietta Highway, Roswell, GA 30075

1 p.m. - Tom Lowe Atlanta - Fulton County Water Treatment Plant - 9750 Spruill Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022
