Fulton County is dedicated to making homeownership more accessible for all residents. June is National Homeownership Month. In recognition, Community Development is encouraging interested home buyers to check out the Homeownership Program (HOP).

The Homeownership Program provides affordable mortgage financing for eligible first-time homebuyers. HOP offers down payment assistance to individuals that qualify. HOP also provides up to 7.5% of the sales price, not to exceed $22,500, in down payment, closing cost, and interest rate buydown assistance, in accordance with your first mortgage.

The Fulton County Homeownership Program aids low- and moderate-income persons and families for the purchase of a home, to be used as the primary residence, in Fulton County outside of the City of Atlanta, Chattahoochee Hills, John’s Creek, Roswell, Sandy Springs and South Fulton. 

To qualify:
• You must be a first-time homebuyer (Have not owned a home in the past three years). 
• Your household income does not exceed the required limits.
• You are approved for a 1st mortgage with a HOP Participating Lender. 
• Home purchase price does not exceed $347,000 for existing and $367,000 for new construction homes.

All applicant buyers must receive housing counseling before receiving HOP Program Funding. In addition to qualified lenders, realtors, and processors, Fulton County is also partnering with the Housing Consultants Group (HCG) to attract new homebuyers. HCG is an experienced nonprofit that administers the HOP program. They provide training for lenders and realtors, process loan applications, and offer expert support to guide homebuyers through the process.
