This afternoon Fulton County crews were able to temporarily restore water service to customers after a water main break occurred in the vicinity of Morris Road at Lathene Drive.
While affected customers have water service at this time, an additional planned water service outage will be required on Wednesday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to finalize repairs. In addition, a boil water advisory remains in effect until further notice.
The area of the advisory is limited, incorporating approximately a quarter-mile radius of the area of the break. The boil water advisory area is confined to the general area of Morris Rd, south of Lathene Dr. to Deerfield Ave and north of Lathene Dr. to Flamingo Rd. Water customers may refer to the attached map to view their location and verify if they are impacted.
The Boil Water advisory is being issued out of an abundance of caution to mitigate the risk of any potential health hazard that may exist due to microbial contamination in these areas without positive pressure. The advisory will remain in effect until testing confirms that there is no longer any threat of possible public health concern.
To properly boil tap water for use, customers should:
Heat water until bubbles come quickly from the bottom of the container.
Continue heating the water for one minute once it begins to boil.
Remove the water from the heat source and allow it to cool before use.
During a Boil Water Advisory, the Centers for Disease Control recommends that boiled tap water or bottled water be used for:
•Drinking
•Brushing teeth
•Washing food and preparing food and baby formula
•Making ice
•Drinking water for pets
Other activities, such as washing clothes and dishes, can be done without boiling tap water.
Customers will be notified immediately when the advisory is lifted. Once the advisory is lifted, customers should flush all faucets for at least two minutes before being used for drinking or food preparation.
