National Association of Counties (NACo) President, J.D. Clark, recently appointed Fulton County District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. Commissioner to the Arts and Culture Innovation Council and the Justice & Public Safety Steering Committee.
The Commissioner’s appointments, which were confirmed last month, are ones of prestige. As a member of the NACo Arts and Culture Innovation Council, Commissioner Arrington will work with leaders around the country to demonstrate how the arts can be used by county officials to promote economic development and provide solutions to many of the challenges facing the industry. In his work with the Justice & Public Safety Steering Committee, Commissioner Arrington will assist in discussing matters pertaining to criminal justice and public safety systems, including criminal justice, law enforcement, courts, corrections, homeland security, crime prevention, juvenile justice, emergency management, fire prevention and civil disturbances.
“Not only am I proud but honored to once again be called to serve Fulton County on a national platform,” said Commissioner Arrington. “The arts and public safety are two primary focus areas for my office. Working with national leaders to enhance programs and initiatives is vital for all residents.”
A native of Atlanta, Commissioner Arrington, is a renowned "Super" lawyer with over 25 years of litigation and judicial process and serves as District 5 Commissioner of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners (BOC). Commissioner Arrington is a graduate of Frederick Douglass High School. A member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., Marvin is a proud alumnus of both the University of Virginia and Emory Law School.
