Fulton County Commissioner Bridget Thorne Named to NACo Committees

The Commissioner will represent District 1 and Fulton County on a national level.
Fulton County Commissioner Bridget Thorne of District 1 has been named to the National Association of Counties’ International Economic Development Innovation Council and Large Urban County Caucus (LUCC) Steering Committees. Commissioner Thorne will represent the voices of Fulton County residents and other counties in setting national policy. 

As a member of the International Economic Development Innovation Council, Commissioner Thorne will assist in facilitating the exchange of information and resources while guiding NACo’s programming related to international economic development activities. As a member of the Large Urban County Caucus (LUCC), the Commissioner will assist other national county leaders in addressing national policy issues impacting their communities.

The Commissioner received the news of the appointments from NACo President J.D. Clark, last month. Through her work, Commissioner Thorne will connect with other elected officials around the country while representing Fulton County on a national level. 

“It is such an honor to be able to join fellow County Commissioners around the country as we address matters that will impact every community,” said Commissioner Thorne. “My goal is to ensure that Fulton County has a seat at the table and that each resident is recognized on every level.”

Commissioner Thorne is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a professional software designer and a grassroots community advocate and volunteer. She has served on several boards including Alpharetta Parks Visionary Committee, Alpharetta High School Foundation Board, Parent Teacher Student Association, Young Men’s Service League, Local and National Boards. She has also volunteered with many nonprofit organizations, including North Fulton Charities, Senior Services - Meals on Wheels, Miracle League, Habitat for Humanity, Homestretch, City of Refuge, Atlanta Union Mission, and World Relief.
