Happening in Fulton: Inside Fulton County’s Continuity of Operations (COOP) Planning

September 12, 2025

Fulton County brought all 42 departments together for a Continuity of Operations Planning exercise. Hear more from Facilitator Blue Umbrella Solutions Matt Eyer. What we're doing is we're testing the continuity of operations capability of Fulton County. So what we're trying to do is stress their plans a little bit to make sure that when something happens, they have the ability to keep providing their vital services to the public. So through exercises like this in a nonstress informal environment, we can say "Hey how does your plan look? Will it work?" We want to find things that work very well, and we also want to find things that may be problems so we can fix them before we need these plans in real life. Public preparedness is a big part of what we do. The stronger we have our public prepared and ready to go when something bad happens, the easier it is for our county services to continue providing what needs to be provided.
