Fulton County Senior Center Honored as 2025 Senior Center of the Year
The Fulton County Department of Senior Services is pleased to announce that the New Beginnings Neighborhood Senior Center in Fairburn has been named the 2025 Senior Center of the Year by the Georgia Association of Senior Centers (GASC). This recognition underscores Fulton County’s ongoing commitment to creating spaces where older adults can thrive, stay active, and remain connected to their communities.
The award was presented during the inaugural GASC Awards Luncheon and Launch on Friday, September 26, at The Morrow Center, 1180 Southlake Circle, Morrow, GA. Judges from across the country praised the center’s creativity, commitment, and positive impact on older adults and their families.
New Beginnings has served the Fairburn community since 1992 and now welcomes an average of 86 older adults each day for fitness, nutrition, arts, and social activities. Managed by South Fulton Senior Services, Inc., with Executive Director Pier Holder and Center Manager Pamela Daniel, the staff and volunteers are dedicated to promoting health, independence, and aging in place.
The center’s history and popularity are reflected in its long-standing members, including one original participant turning 100 this year who still drives himself and his wife to the center.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from the Georgia Association of Senior Centers,” said Ladisa Onyiliogwu, Director of the Department of Senior Services. “The New Beginnings Senior Center has been a cornerstone of the Fairburn community for more than three decades. This award reflects the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and partners who work tirelessly to ensure older adults have a place to connect, stay active, and continue thriving.”
This honor reflects Fulton County’s ongoing investment in programs that support healthy, active, and connected aging. For more information about Fulton County Senior Services programs, please call the Fulton County STARline at (404) 613-6000.
