Fulton County Issues Verified Water Service Notification Letter
Fulton County Issues Verified Water Service Notification Letter
The Department of Public Works recently sent letters to customers as part of our efforts to create a comprehensive inventory of water service line materials within our water service area, as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s regulations require Fulton County to notify all customers of its comprehensive inventory of water service line materials within our water service area. The inventory will identify any public or private service lines that may need to be replaced.
The letter distributed to customers is meant to explain the health risks of lead exposure, share simple precautions that can be taken to minimize any, and where to find more information about lead safety.
The letter does not mean that lead is present in your drinking water. EPA required all public water systems to send this notification to customers annually starting in the fall of 2025. New customers will also receive a copy when they begin service. You will continue to receive a copy of this letter each year until your service line is replaced, or if it is unknown, until the material is confirmed to be non-lead.
Fulton County Public Works published our inventory of water service line materials in 2024. We are continuing to gather information about the water service lines.
• As part of this effort, Fulton County will be visiting select homes across our distribution system to check their water service lines.
• You can help us speed up the process by identifying your service line material with a few simple steps.
• Use the tools and guidance at https://www.fcpwleadcopper.com/check-your-water-service-line-material to find out the material of your service line.
