Fulton County Commissioner Mo Ivory Honors 113th Delta Sigma Theta Founders Day with Proclamation

The Commissioner will recognize her Sorority on Wednesday, January 21.

Fulton County Commissioner Mo Ivory of District 4 is honoring her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated’s more than 100 years of service. The prestigious sorority celebrated its 113th Founders’ Day on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

In recognition of this milestone, Commissioner Ivory will present the members of the sorority with a proclamation during the January 21 Board of Commissioners Meeting. The Commissioner, a 35-year member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated pledged while a student at Spelman College in the spring of 1990.

“Today, I proudly celebrate the visionary leadership of the 22 founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, who in 1913 at Howard University laid a foundation of service, scholarship, and social action.” Said Commissioner Ivory. “I also honor the hundreds of thousands of Delta women across Fulton County and around the world whose commitment to justice, community empowerment, and sisterhood continues to transform lives. As a proud Delta since 1990, it remains one of the highest honors of my life to serve and hold membership in this extraordinary sisterhood.”

The sorority's members have included trailblazers such as Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, Secretary Marcia Fudge, and Dr. Dorothy I. Height. Its global footprint spans across the United States, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean, embodying the Founders' vision of impactful sisterhood.
