Fulton County Recognizes the Efforts of Poll Workers During National Observance
With the November 3, 2026, Midterm Election less than 3 months away, Fulton County is preparing to recognize Tuesday, August 11 as National Poll Worker Recruitment Day. During this national observance, the Department of Registration and Elections is continuing its efforts in educating the public on the importance of working with eligible residents to assist with in-person voting.
“Signing up to be a poll worker gives you an opportunity not only to see how elections are run, but to join your friends, neighbors, and coworkers to serve your community,” said Director of Registration and Elections Nadine Williams. “These workers play a vital role in maintaining accessible and accurate elections. This initiative also seeks to promote civic participation and volunteerism and ensure the integrity and security of the elections.”
Poll worker duties include setting up polling places and greeting voters, verifying voter registrations, and issuing ballots. They can help explain how the voting process works by demonstrating how voting machines are used and detailing voting procedures.
The Fulton County Voter Education Outreach team is continuing its ongoing efforts to encourage all eligible residents to consider serving as a poll worker. The team will be onsite at the following locations:

National Poll Worker Recruitment Day was established by the EAC in 2020 to highlight the vital role of election workers and encourage more Americans to serve their local communities. Since it started, this day has grown into a nationwide effort to raise awareness of the need for poll workers.
Priority will be given to poll workers who worked in previous elections this year and to Fulton County Residents. The workers will be used to staff the 31 polling locations for the Advanced Voting Period scheduled for October 12 – 30 and for the 129 locations that will be open for the November 3, 2026, General/Special Election.
To be a poll worker you must:
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Have a willingness to serve
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Be willing to work from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election. The polls will close at 7 p.m. on Election Day.
- Read and write English
- Be a Fulton County resident or receive a signed poll worker employment waiver from an adjacent county
