Fulton County's Strong Track Record of Health & Human Services Investments Continues

Georgia counties are charged with responsibility for health and human services, and Fulton County takes that responsibility seriously. In 2026, Fulton County will invest more than $100 million in health & human service programs.
Fulton County's 2023 Project Care study confirmed known health disparities and identified a healthcare desert within Fulton County.
In response, Fulton County expanded our 100+ year partnership with Grady Health System to address healthcare access gaps. This expansion included the opening of two primary care clinics and investment of $19 million in the new standalone emergency room in South Fulton -- located in the documented health care desert. Fulton County has also committed $300 million to support the construction of the Grady – South Hospital at that site.
This year, Fulton County will also invest $52 million for the existing Grady Hospital – one of the nation’s best known teaching hospitals and site of the only Level I Trauma Center in the metro region.
Fulton County has invested an expanded health and human services access through a new $25 million Health & Human Services campus in Alpharetta, with a similar facility planned for South Fulton.
In addition, Fulton County is investing more than $20 million this year in mental health resources, and more than $10 million to supplement state public health resources, and more than $30 million for care for seniors.
