Tax Commissioner Urges Drivers to Renew Registration Early
“The new computer upgrades merge the state system that processes drivers’ license data with that handling tag and title information,” says Fulton County Tax Commissioner Dr. Arthur Ferdinand. “While ultimately this transition will help our office and the Division of Driver Services better serve our constituents, this move will be a temporary inconvenience for customers.”
The upgrades are a part of the ongoing statewide effort to transition to the State of Georgia’s new Georgia Driver Record and Integrated Vehicle Enterprise System (DRIVES). Registrations for Fulton County taxpayers that expire during the January 12 through January 19 time frame will not accrue penalties or interest. Prior to January 12, 2021, Fulton County drivers can renew their vehicle registration online and at kiosks without credit card or other processing fees. In-person services are available prior to that deadline at all Fulton County Tax Commissioner offices except for Greenbrier Mall and Fulton County Government Center which both remain closed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
