Fulton County Commission Vice-Chair Liz Hausmann toured the North Jail Annex. Work is in progress to reopen the Alpharetta facility. It closed during the pandemic. The Fulton County Sheriff's Office and the department of real estate asset management are updating the facility and equipment to begin housing detainees there. Police departments in North Fulton urged the county to reopen the jail annex; otherwise their officers would have to transfer detainees to the main jail 25 miles away.
