Happening in Fulton: Aviation Lightboxes & QR Codes
Aviation Lightboxes & QR Codes are on display at Emma Darnell Aviation Museum and Conference Center. Hear more from Artist Michael Reese. Coming up with the idea to do lightboxes: They are lightboxes but it's metaphorical in terms of how the building is designed. There are clear windows so you can see these aviators from a distance kind of like bringing light to the darkness. The title of the work is called "A Force Proportional to their Masses" so that's a little snippet from the definition of gravity. It's a metaphor speaking about African-Americans; to achieve flight you have to overcome gravity but they also had to overcome a lot of societal pressures. Doing the work was such an honor to get to honor some of the heroes and sheroes that I grew up idolizing.
