John is an innovative IT professional with over 30 years’ experience in the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of technology products, services, and processes.
He is often described as a “thought leader” when it comes to finding inexpensive, innovative ways to maximize organizational effectiveness. He received his Baccalaureate degree from the University of Maryland with a BS in Information Systems Management, and an MBA from Wesley College with a concentration in Executive Leadership.
In addition, John holds a Software Engineering Process Management Certificate from Carnegie Mellon’s Software Engineering Institute and a Certified Government Chief Information Officer designation from the University of North Carolina.
His organizations have been recognized for IT Innovation in Georgia for 2012, 2014, 2015. Nationally, Information Week recognized his team’s Georgia Outdoor Map product as one of the Elite 100 projects in the U.S., and Gov Delivery selected it as the national top innovation in state agencies for 2015. He also had the honor of being a finalist for the CIO of the Year in Georgia for 2015 & 2016.
In 2018 he accepted a position of an Executive-in-Residence at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson School of Business in the Computer Information Systems Department. As an Executive-in-Residence he works to provide students and faculty the opportunity to benefit from the expertise gained through many years as a business executive by teaching regular semester courses, while also assisting with the identification of the evolving needs of the business community with the GSU's academic programs.
