Lee Young Wilbanks serves as Chief Deputy District Attorney in the Case Intake Unit. A lifelong resident of Fulton County, Georgia, she earned both her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Georgia.
Lee began her career prosecuting misdemeanors with the Muscogee County Solicitor General’s Office before joining the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, where she handled serious felony cases, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, and drug offenses. She was later promoted to the Crimes Against Women and Children Unit, where she found her calling advocating for survivors of violent crime. Over the course of her career, Lee has served as lead prosecutor in more than one hundred jury trials, primarily advocating for vulnerable victims.
In 2004, she was appointed as a full-time Magistrate Judge in the Clayton County Magistrate Court. She later joined the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office in the Crimes Against Children Unit, prosecuting complex sexual and physical assault cases, as well as child homicides.
Lee was subsequently recruited by the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia to serve as a Statewide Resource Prosecutor on the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) Cold Case Task Force, supporting prosecutors across Georgia in cold-case sexual assault investigations involving previously untested kits.
In 2023, she returned to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office and was recently promoted to Chief Deputy District Attorney. Lee is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Voice for Victims Award, reflecting her lifelong commitment to justice and advocacy.
