Caitlin McGillicuddy serves as Deputy District Attorney in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office under the leadership of District Attorney Fani T. Willis. In her role as Deputy District Attorney of the Crimes Against Children Unit, Caitlin leads a unit tasked with seeking justice for children who have been victims of sexual, physical, and emotional violence, as well as homicides of children in Fulton County. Her work centers on children, some of the most vulnerable members of our community, and making sure they are met with compassion and support, while justice and accountability are secured on their behalf.
Prior to assuming this role, Caitlin was Deputy District Attorney of the Complex Trial Division, where she supervised and mentored attorneys tasked with prosecuting serious felonies within its jurisdiction. Caitlin has also served as a Chief Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Crimes Against Children Unit, where she prosecuted cases involving attempted murder, aggravated child molestation, rape, and other crimes against children.
Caitlin has been practicing law as a prosecutor since 2015, previously working in the Flint and Clayton Judicial Circuits before joining the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in 2023. A New York native, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Middle East Studies, with a minor in Theology, from Fordham University. She went on to attend Emory University School of Law, graduating in 2015.
During her career, Caitlin has tried several hundred misdemeanor cases, ranging from theft to domestic violence. She successfully argued an appeal from trial court to the Georgia Supreme Court, preserving the conviction and contributing to a change in the application of Georgia law. She has also gained extensive felony trial experience prosecuting cases involving aggravated assault, rape, aggravated child molestation, incest, participation in criminal street gang activity, and murder.
Caitlin has benefited from learning from some of the state’s best trial attorneys and is dedicated to mentoring the attorneys in the Crimes Against Children Unit. She strives to help them balance accountability with justice and hone their discretion to best serve the community. Crimes Against Children have always held a special place of significance and meaning for Caitlin. She cares deeply about the work of the Unit, bringing her prosecutorial experience, care for vulnerable victims, and commitment to seeking justice to serve the citizens of Fulton County.
